On Tuesday, March 27, Franklin voters have a now-or-never chance to say YES to a fully furnished
and equipped 21st century high school and auditorium for our community. This town-wide vote
will ask residents to support a debt exclusion bringing Franklin a $104.5 million high school
complex at a cost to the taxpayers of only $47 million.
The FHS Field House will be open for voting from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. School is in session and
parking may be difficult, so be patient. The best times to vote will be before 7 a.m. and after
3 p.m. Remember to vote YES by filling in the entire YES oval on your ballot.
Three Reasons Why a YES Vote
Makes Sense:
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a new, fully furnished and equipped high school with a state reimbursement rate of 59.52 percent, taking full advantage of historic low
constructionand borrowing costs and protecting our property values.
The new school will remove Franklin High from accreditation warning status and meet all future needs
including: 20 percent more core educational space; 21st century classrooms and science labs with integrated
technology; an 830-seat auditorium/theater; a 17,700-square-foot gym and 6,000-square-feet-indoor
walking track; and, full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act for access and special ed.
To compete in a technologically advanced, global economy and to attract the best teachers, our high
school students need to learn in a facility with modern resources and a safe environment.

Failure To Pass The Debt Exclusion Means:
Franklin will lose the chance to build a new high school with nearly 60 percent state reimbursement.
Franklin taxpayers will pay 100% for repairs to keep the building safe and operational.
Accreditation officials will consider moving Franklin High onto probation status.
Our property values will erode and our tax base will be weakened.
